Tour of the Golden Horsehoe

We had an early start Thursday morning leaving for Great Wolf Lodge, but our first stop was to head over the river to Target (en Francais as Moe told the customs officer) for some summer clothes shopping. I had a taste of this shopping mecca last March Break in Daytona with Shauna and Janet and couldn't wait to share the tradition with Alyse and Moe.

It was another sunny day and spirits were high. Visions of summer wear were dancing in our heads. Julia scored some lovely outfits as did Alyse (special purchases were accessories for her First Communion coming up in April - we'll keep those a surprise until the big day.)
But here's Julia peeking out over the summer wear haul.

After some power shopping and a stop for gas, it was back to our home and native land for lunch. We were a bit disoriented coming off the bridge as to which would be the quickest lunch option as the girls, who had been patient enough with the shopping, were now desperate to hit the water slides.

Not sure how it happened but we ended up on the tour-that-would-never-end...so we decided to enjoy the lovely day and make the best of it. We took a feather from Shauna's cap and did our own photo essay of small town Niagara. You might recognize some of the famous landmarks :)

Oh yeah -- and here are some other places of interest in the area!

We were so hungry by this point and quite possibly delirious from all the shopping that we lost our sense of direction - every time we turned around, we were still in Niagara-on-the lake -- we ended up having lunch at the McDonald's on Stone Road. Moe and I laughed so hard. It was ironic that at the beginning of the break, Shauna was having lunch and touring Newmarket while I wasn't there, and here we were, at the end of the break,  accidently touring NOTL, and Shauna wasn't there.

We finally made it to the lodge.
