September is the worst of times (back to school, wasps, ragweed) and the best of times (crisp mornings, fresh start with new school year, coming of fall).
It makes me think of my friend, Agneta - since it is her birthday. Happy birthday, Agn!
And also the birthday of my paternal grandmother, Bridget MacAteer Devine who would be 109 today.
I think about school supplies and what a treat they are to buy for some reason. I know people who aren't students or teachers or parents of kids going to school who LOVE to buy school supplies in September. Perhaps it's some primordial longing to be the archetypal student. Not sure.
I think of a great notable quotable from You've Got Mail -- one of my favourite movies -- Tom Hanks's character, Joe Fox says to Meg Ryan's character:
“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address..”
So here is a bouquet to all of you to enjoy on this sunny September day.

What a cute picture and post. I LOVE school supplies and it was so much fun looking for stuff for MacLean and all the big girl stuff for Grade 6. It just seems like yesterday I was getting her ready for JK and finding a back pack and matching shirts and leggings oh how I long for Gymboree!
All is well take care friend and see you soon.

Hahaha!! I totally agree! I looooove school supplies and always have! What a great post! :)
Great photo, looks like it should be on a school brochure or website. We don't have much to buy for a kindergartner, but next year I am goin' to town!
We don't have to buy anything either...in fact the school tells us not to because everything needed is supplied. I'm feeling a little cheated!
