Sunday night we were heading into our last week of school, and Julia was taking a long time to get settled for bed after a busy weekend, and excited for the end of school. She was up and down the stairs I don't know how many times, but the last time she wanted to check the weather channel as she often does for what I thought was the next day.
Later that night on my way to bed, I went to turn off her light and nearly tripped over not one , but FOUR people on the floor, each with its own label for the day the outfit was to be worn. Unbenknownst to me she had taken down the details of the next four days' forecast. Each outfit included undergarments and hair accessories to be worn.
I laughed out loud when I saw this production, so taken with the plan that I woke her up for the photo op. Good thing she's a great sleeper, and I knew she'd go right back to bed. You can see she's a bit dozy -- doesn't even remember this photo shoot.
Here's one of the labels.
Tuesday's outfit - last day of school.
She said she picked green for me. Knew it was going to be cold that day so leggings became part of the mix. Love this top -- got it at the little shopon High St. in Southhampton last year. Can't wait to get back there again for the sales.
Wednesday - PA Day outfit - another cool day.
Where did summer go?
Someday down the road --I hope FAR down the road -- there are sure to be battles about what she wants to wear as we continue into the tween and teen years. For now, I'm pleased that she knows about what's appropriate for school and is able to tell me which of the older girls (Gr. 4 - hee hee) got sent to the office because of wardrobe issues. She knows how to coordinate an oufit for the most part, although I wasn't too sure about the leggings under the skorts for two of the colder days this week, but seems she was right in style and more importantly warm.
These last few weeks she seems to have gotten taller (AGAIN) and older in many ways. She was noticing all the Gr. 8 girls dealing with the end of their time at Notre Dame and moving on to high school and said she won't cry when it's time to leave. We'll see.
She's promised me that when she's a teenager (and I'm assuming she also means the time leading up to those years) she will
- never wear anything "hootchie-mama"
- never smoke - "so gross, Mama!"
- never kill herself over a boy - she had asked for some clarification on the Romeo and Juliet story.
I've got it all in writing now, a binding written contract, and we shook on it. I'm thinking we're good for now.

Wow. I am not only impressed by her fashion sense but the organizational ability. Man. Could you send her over to coordinate my outfits for the summer?
Love it and how organized looks like Mac and how she gets her stuff ready. Love the post
