She's got an idea in her head of someone she wants to send it to. There are two kids at her school who have a cancer, so she imagines the little girl will get some of her hair. It makes it personal for her.
I picked Julia up early from school on Friday -- she didn't even know I had made the appointment. Favourite line on the ride there -- "I'm scared and I'm excited. Which one should I be?"
So here's the tale of the tail, so to speak.
The before shot.
The during shots!
She's loved the new hair every minute since - I've loved the easy routine for the morning - I loved that she had the patience to grow it out -- hasn't been really cut since the hair cut-to-end-all-hair-cuts -- the mullet from almost three years ago. She went swimming yesterday with it and thought it was the best. She giggled and said, "I love the breezey on my neck."
I'm also proud of taking a few steps out of her all-about-me-seven-year-old world to think of someone else and pay it forward a bit.
She's happy to be joining the great company of dear friends Bryanna (August 2007), Alyse (January 2009) and most recently, Kate (June 2009) who have donated their locks to the greater good.

She looks FANTASTIC!!!! Way to go Julia!!!!
What a girl! She looks absolutely adorable with the shorter hair. Sophie wants to keep hers short, although I'm hoping that once she sees this and I remind her of her cousin's "donation", she may want to grow hers out and try the same thing.
Very sweet, MacLean went to get her hair done on Sat. and we found out last week that because she had her hair highlighted she couldn't donate, we were very sad but know now for the next time. She too has a short haircut and will look forward to joining the group next time.
Great job, Julia,
