Shauna and Lianne have already blogged away about our China Beach week, so I'm doing a quasi-Coles notes version, highlighting the some of the best moments and memories of the week.
This is the day we packed up to leave the cottage--
you can tell Julia is not too happy about it.
I was with her on that. We love Southampton.
Disappointed in Port Elgin -- no bingo or cake walk this year, but the girls had fun wading into the lake with their pants rolled up. And we enjoyed a lovely sunset and some mother-daughter shots.
It's now a tradition -- the Canada Day shot!
The best craft show - lots of wonderful finds --
see the watermelon table below --
3/4 of the moms have one.
Doesn't this top scream summer --- got it at March Break at Target
All week I longed for the weather for Julia to wear it.
The day finally came.
A new activity on Canada Day --
the Welcome-Summer-Happy-Birthday-Canada-pinata!
Wonderful day at Tobermory and Flowerpot Island.
My wedding to Zac Efron - The girls constructed his body from sticks from the shore. My bridal bouquet came from the shore as well. This is one of the two pin-ups I had of my lover boy -- thanks Bryanna and Lianne! As exciting as it was to marry my HSM sweetie -- I was most delighted about how the girls worked together to build the guy and collect the flowers. They enjoyed many adventures over across at the rocks as they explored Turtle Island and Lemon land and met at their "Meeting Rock". They even created a call that the moms used -- "Ca-caw, ca-caw!"
A wonderful craft at the beach - thanks Christine.
The girls decorated their jars with wire and beads and
then collected shells, stones and sand
from the Southampton shore to bring home.
I call it "Summer in a jar".
I love this photo of Julia and Cassidy, upside down in the hammock. It also speaks to me of the wonderful friendship that is developing between the girls. Reminds me how much they've grown. Look at them with their toothy grins! Julia lost two teeth that week.
I think the picture says it all -- heavy sigh.
A long standing tradition of the trip to the bakery -- we've yet to be first in line. But it's worth the wait for that cheese bread.
This was our first sunset of the summer at Southampton. Julia scampered up her favourite rock to listen to the piper. It was wonderful to be back at the beach. The notion of this momentis what kept me going in the hectic days of May and June.
