What a wonderful day to try another winter sport! Yesterday was sunny and milder than it has been for a long time -- perfect day to head to Snow Valley in Barrie. We went there last year for a tubing adventure, but this year it was all about the skiing.
Here is Julia getting fitted for her skis -- a great system there -- all so streamlined. I laughed because she looked like one of those speed skiers getting ready to bolt out of the gates at the top of the course.

The girls loved the spiderman hoods - worn under the helmets -- thanks to our friends, the Franks for lending the gals the helmets, hoods and googles for the day.

On the way to their lesson -- all outfitted for the day. They were so excited!

The beginner "Discover Skiing" class was filled with adults, interestingly enough mostly Asian. Julia and Alyse were the two youngest in the class. Here they are getting tips about putting on their skis.

No fear on these faces - all set to go for a ride up the magic carpet to do their first practice run.
Here's Julia doing her first run down the hill - instructor Edgar said no poles - helps them develop their balance better. They learned how to stop -- do the "pizza" aka "snowplow". It wasn't long before the girls were turning to navigate the little pylons. All the skating and dancing lessons came in handy as the girls have a well developed sense of balance.

After about 6 or 7 runs down the practice hill, the instructor took two of the teen girls and the "little girls"-- Julia and Alyse -- over to the next hill.
I was in a bit of a panic then - this course had more of an incline and a tow rope to navigate.
You can see I had nothing to worry about - Julia casually going up the hill and then casually coming down.
