The Thrills and Chills begin...

The chilly part of Halloween began today -- and inspired Julia's painted Santa pumpkin. We had flurries in Newmarket this morning. It's going to make for some fancy layering for tonight's attire. Katie's pumpkin painting was inspired by our special outing yesterday..

to see the musical Wicked. I gave Katie the tickets for her graduation present in June and thought Halloween weekend would be a wonderful time to celebrate.
Katie enjoyed her time in the big city. After the show we did a tour of Yonge -Dundas Square and some shops in the Eaton Centre. It was fun shopping with a real teenager (not one trapped in an 8-year-old body!).

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Julia was outfitted in her poodle skirt costume from last year's "Rock around the Clock" tap number to go to a birthday party. The leather jacket was an added touch and paid homage to this year's jazz number, "My Boyfriend's Back".

Yesterday at school the Halloween spirit was high and most of the students made the effort to come up with discernable costumes. I was particularily impressed by this group of Gr.12 buddies (the orange tetra is one of mine), to design and construct this impressive showing. They had a whole choreographed routine with music and different configurations. Too funny. Loved the initiative.

And here we are on our way to school -- Julia bedecked as Cleopatra and I am in my 11th hour punny costume -- deviled egg.

Stay tuned for shots of tonight's fun. Happy Halloween to all.
