A different kind of parade experience this year for us -- we were in the Aurora Santa Claus parade as part of the float for my school. The jazz band played on the flatbed truck and then Julia and I joined Marianne and Moe, their hubbies and kids and the high school buddies to make the walk down Yonge St. in front of the float.
Julia was most excited! She didn't care that she was going to be walking -- although she did care near the end of the parade (there were some laments about how tired she was) -- she was happy to be wearing her Santa hat and waving at the folks on the street.
We all went to dinner before hand at the start of the parade route -- here are the girls geared up for the fun. Julia set up this b/w shot on her camera -- she wanted a cool shot she said as she handed me the camera to capture the moment with her gal pals.
Here we are, the adult elves in full colour, donning our gay apparel.
This is our school mascot, Rielly, happy to pose with the girls.

Just like the big leagues with our school banner -- ready to start the route.
There was lots of hooting and cheering at this point.
No enough flash -- but the little red hats you see are on the heads of the band members.
I laughed when I saw this sign to remind the bands to play for the TV cameras up ahead-- I remember seeing one last year at theToronto Santa Claus parade and thought it was just for the big time. I guess there are no small parades! Julia turned around and asked--what did this mean - were we going to church now?She was delighted to hear that she was going to make her TV debut.
Girls with a bit of a swagger and some holiday attitude, getting ready for the TV cameras.
The jolly old elf himself!
