For the past several years -- 4 or 5 we think -- Julia and I have shared New Year's Eve at a sleep over with our China moms and their girls at Lianne's home - 6 of us descend on the Thompsons with food and treats galore. It's a wonderful part of the holidays and a tradition that Julia and I look forward to each year.
The traditional pj shot - love the hello lips, MacLean! They all look so grown up.
Our 2009 celebration started with a movie outing to see Bedtime Stories and Marley and Me for Shauna and MacLean. Then home for a taco supper for the girls.
Shauna always makes a wonderful New Year's Day breakfast - here she is preparing the Cinnamon bake and amazing ham& cheese potato casserole- both wonderful crowd pleasers.
We do our Christmas gift exchange for the kids and the moms at this event, so needless to say, the girls were very excited to get to this stage of the program.

Julia and MacLean had each other for their secret Santa.
Lianne and I had each other again this year. Here Lianne is sporting her Bluetooth headset --

we had lots of fun setting it up and trying it out throughout the house while we were booking our moms' getaway to Chicago for Janet's milestone birthday in April. Lianne gave me a beautiful Chinese recipe/travel book with wonderful pictures.
Shauna wowed and touched us all when she revealed a wonderful photo calendar that she had made for each family. She had included lots of pictures which chronicled the many adventures our little group has shared this past year: Disney World, Florida, the cottage in Southhampton, day trips, even the recent Santa Claus parade in Niagara-on-the-Lake. What a treasure to have and a lovely tribute to our great friendship.
Julia had brought her manicure set to share with the girls, and this sparked the idea for the girls to create a day spa in Lianne's basement.
Here's Cassidy, the friendly receptionist, welcoming us to the Palm Beach Day Spa - she also booked our appointments.
Bryanna and MacLean discuss price lists and special promotions. They came up with the idea a coupon draw for 5, 10, 20% off the treatments - it was a wonderful thing to see them so excited adnd working together.
Janet receiving tag team makeup and manicure services, and a mother-daughter hair consult.
What is better than a facial and a massage!
Shauna is getting the full monty treatment!
Lianne was feeling a bit under the weather and missed out on the lovely treatments, but no doubt, the spa will be be running for our next get together. We've been issued membership cards, and the 10th visit is free!
Our visit finished with a cuddle with the newest member of the Thompson family - Charlie Brown. Can you tell Julia is a little bit excited to meet him!
Thank you all for a wonderful ring in to 2009 - looking forward to many more adventures together.

WOW WOW WOW, that is an amazing recount of our fabulous time at the Thompsons! Thanks so much for sharing all of that. I would like to just copy it all to my blog! I need to do that now that I am home and back from Target. Not much to report some new fuzzy blankets for my new houseguests and a few Valentines goodies and i don't even know what else. Thanks AM for sharing this wonderful tradition.
Take care, Shauna
Super entry! My patience with adding the pictures always gets the better of me, so I love looking through all of yours.
Until the next celebration!
Lianne

Yowee - you've been a busy blogger! Happy New Year - looks like your holidays were lovely!
Hahaha! I had to laugh at the description of the spa experience. I am an avid member of the spa...every time I babysit! And you all wonder why I love to babysit...wouldn't you, with that treatment?! hehe
