Eighty and going strong

This year both my parents turned 80 - my dad in April and my mom this month. We went to Sarnia to celebrate with Mom.

Julia and Sara (who also celebrated her birthday this month) were excited to create a special cake -- or cakes -- for Nana. Captilizing on the cupcake trend that seems to be taking palettes by storm, they created an "80" tribute for Nana.

Just as I was getting the camera ready to snap a shot of their creation, Mom snatched one the the cupcakes. You can see the whole in the 8 at the bottom where one of the anchor cupcakes was.

You're allowed when you are 80.

Nana and some of her adoring fans.
Birthday wishes for mom from Dad, Carmel and me.

Next year is going to be a milestone birthday for me. It's caused me to take stock and recollect my parents when they were my age. I don't feel the age I am, but then everyone tells me that 50 is the new 40. I am the age my parents were when I went off to university -- they seemed so old to me then. I wonder if that's what Julia will think of me, that I was so old. I try to ward that off by still dancing to "Gotta Feeling" every time I hear the song, regardless of where I am.
Hoping I'm still able to do some dancing when I am 80.

Atta girl, Nana. Although if I were you, I would have grabbed *two*.

Happy 80th!
