Simple pleasures

One of my New Year intentions is to follow my daughter's lead...
go to bed with a good book -- of my own chosing -- NOT school related -- and read myself to sleep.

This moment made me grin from ear to ear. Love that she's reading, love that she's so big girl, propped up on her pillows, love that she's so cozy in her bed with the ladybug flannel sheets and her marshmallow duvet.
Julia has discovered the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and is loving them. I bought her this own (#2) at the school book fair. Her dear friend Cassidy gave her the first in the series at Christmas. She's now reading them both a second time. I love to her her giggle from her room.

There's a stack of books on my night stand, tempting me, and I keep telling myself, once the marking is done, once the exams are done because, lately, I'm falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow usually around 9 pm.

Here are three of the titles that await me...
Perhaps if I stopped blogging, I could be reading...hmmmm. Aye, there's the rub!

Ahhh. I love new book recommendations. I'm plodding through the latest Barbara Kingsolver at the moment which isn't grabbing me (yet) as much as some of her earlier books. (The Poisonwood Bible is one of my favourite books ever....)

Start with Three Cups of Tea, you'll race through it.

And I can't wait to be in exactly Julia's position in a couple of hours.

The pics of Julia are so sweet! I could just eat her up! I can picture you grinning from ear to ear watching her - and it made me grin, too. :)

You HAVE to read Still Alice - it is AMAZING! I have never actually cried while reading a book, but this one did me in!

Funny enough, I am reading Three Cups of Tea right now for my book club meeting this month. Also a great book!

Saw the other book at your house - another one I would like to read. I read an excerpt in a magazine and really liked it!

Happy intentions!!

Oh lovely to see Julia so absorbed.

And yes distractions...I always manage to read, but what is getting in the way of finishing my novel? Blogging! TV!

arrggh.

Oh I am reading The Shack! which is very compelling and interesting. It is for our book/bible study club. Have almost finished Still Alice and have cried through the whole book! I want to hear more about your other book it looks interesting. We have the junior novel edition given to Mac from Bryanna so we will dive into it soon. Love the pics of your big girl. Just home an hour ago after having dinner with our student minister Terrie we all enjoyed some sushi! yummy!
